Prelude: Carpe fucking diem?

So how do you start a mailing like this? Guess with a little background. Hi, my name is Pascal. I am the author and illustrator of this book i will share with you in 100 little chapters.

I am proud and damn nervous at the same time. On the one hand, because this piece has been taking more than 4 years. On the other, because you are one of the first people to read it. Now it’s on you to tell if there some worth in it or if it is just my own brainfucks.

Why those brainfucks in the first place? In the past years I was busy with personality development, therapy and coaching. And Reading. A lot. In doing so, I have always had a preference for wisdom and paradoxes against intuition and reason. Somehow these ideas have allowed access to truths that were deeper and more genuine than simply digestible slogans like fucking * carpe diem *.

What is easy to digest is like white bread: probably low in nutrients. Everything popular is average. Simple wisdom is obvious. And somehow not really real.

I’m interested in what really moves people. What happens when people become whole. And what it means to be whole. What happens if we discard old concepts from and about ourselves and become vivid people who feel free and independent? What do I have to learn to get out of prison in my head and risk the courage to be free?

Until we solve these questions for ourselves, we often live in paradoxes and concepts that are just irrational. We try connection through loneliness, freedom through avoidance, and peace through arguments. Irrational, but so often a way of avoiding full contact with life, hiding and living in the ivory tower of life.

The 100 chapters of this book have been created through hundreds of little notes of wisdom. Every time I became more self-conscious, read a book, or understood something of worth to me, I used my typewriter to write a note for the bathroom mirror that summed up the wisdom for me in a short quote. It quickly resulted in more than 200 of these notes. 100 of them in an order and as chapters make this book up.
